I've got a couple of exercises that I want you to do to explore your sexual shame.
First, I want you to get a piece of paper and write down everything that you can remember about where you learned about sex:
From whom did you learn it from, and what kind of right and wrong messaging did you get?
What religious influences were there?
What kind of education did you get about sex in school both from your teachers and from your friends?
What did your parents tell you, if anything, about it?
What about other family members, such as older brothers and sisters?
What did you get from movies and from stories that you heard?
What did you get from porn?
I’d like you to reflect on any aspects I might have overlooked, particularly in terms of where you learned about sex, the lessons you took from it, and the sense of right and wrong you developed.
